Gonna try and download this and start to seed as well.
Don't know if this is any good, lol.
it seems to be pretty legit, tho i am new to the technical differences between DB and anime releases in general
Just had a look at the Dragon Books' scans, they look really good. Much obliged!
Level episodes 001-039 (lossless) would have been nicer 'cause they're in HD and then the rest with Dragon Box quality but it looks as though TOEI might be working on a definitive HD release of the Z series.
@Super_Saiyan_Lusitano
Dragon Book Volume 3 is incomplete, so if you want to scan those missing pages, I will be glad. Also, I wanted a consistent video quality, that's why this is a Dragon Box project and episodes 001-039 are from Dragon Box.
I noticed Dragon Book #3 was incomplete so I'll take some time to scan it then. Also, I get you prefer to use Dragon Box for consistency which makes sense so the quality is always precise.
I'm scanning all FUNimation's Dragon Boxes and organizing it, so it'll be available later today.
It's out of print but having these scans avail online may be sort of the next best thing for those who want to check them out without spending $100 per box on eBay.
WOW. Dragon Box video with the Broadcast Audio? So this is it then, this is the ultimate DBZ collection! I used to have Dragon Boxes 1-6 until a few years ago when I had to sell them for extra money, and since then I just couldn't find a perfect archival version of the series. I think this is finally it. Thank you!
@ SilverIdaten
Not quite. With TOEI remastering DB and DBZ movies and the DBZ Bardock Special, it's possible they're also remastering the DB/Z/GT series so the Dragon Box video footage isn't the 'ultimate' edition anymore.
Still great, though.
After seeing how they've started censoring the movies for their Blu-Ray release, I'm skeptical of any potential Toei remaster at the moment. Hopefully they prove me wrong.
First I've heard of that, is that new? Last I heard was the story on Kanzenshuu, where they acknowledge the censorship and give customers the option of a refund or new jackets for the covers. It specifically mentions that no mention was made of repacking them with unaltered discs. If they've changed their mind on that then that's great news, I don't know what they were thinking doing that in the first place.
@Ichiro4000 My upload speed is too low. The current person downloading this torrent with most amount of content is at 55%. That's why you are "stuck", since you get to the point where you want to obtain what nobody else downloading it has (and not giving priority to it as you are) and you have to use my ~800kB/s upload speed with 34 more people.
The second or third seeder of this will have better internet connection and/or use seedboxes. After that, I will no longer seed this torrent.
I've just been downloading individual episodes as they become 100% available, but that would explain why even then the torrent slows to a crawl after awhile. Hopefully somebody with a faster connection will be able to finish it soon!
Note: I'm no longer seeding this. Spread the word to make your seeding worth it. This will encourage people to make better projects and keep this one alive.
Super_Sayan_Lusitano even released better scans of the US Dragon Book after my torrent.
Enjoy and good luck seeding it!
@Densetsu This is not upscaled. It's the raw MPEG2 video of the DVD Dragon Box with its very high bitrate. The resolution is 720x480 and the pixel aspect ration is 8:9, i.e. every single pixel is a vertical rectangle, so that the video aspect ratio is 4:3 (and most players will display it as if it is 720x540).
Every 4:3 pirate version of DBZ that is not the Saiyan Saga with higher resolution is just a compressed digital upscale of this DVD, which only worsen its quality and does not give any actual extra details to the image.
I do not know what your point is, I did not say I have stopped seeding. You should keep your numbers to yourself.
Do not forget you were at 67% 4 days ago, I just finished 99% today.
I've already transferred the episodes to my external HDD (essentially my DB archive) so it may not be ideal, but I'll hop on to seed from my work internet which is fairly fast for a bit.
Anyone else having an issue were this torrent wont download a single byte of data, yet my torrent program (deluge) has me connected to 24 peers and can see 3 seeders?!?!?
I also have 6 other torrents running fine, 5 of which are dbz torrents gotten from this site then same day I started this torrent.
Thank you so much Romao. I did not think to try getting the torrent instead. I will seed this for a good while once it is done.
Also... I am a stay at home dad with little to do during the day, so I am going to take a crack at adding Funimation/Levi/Faulconer audio to these files. I might be biting off more than I can chew, but I really don't have anything better to do atm.
If anyone can think of an audio stream that should also be added, then please link it to me here... if you don't mind Romao?
Am also going to rip the non-remastered audio for Lord Slug and Coolers Revenge and add it to the remastered video.
I think the person/s that redid the audio failed when it came to timing. Like when Cooler shoots Piccolo through the chest, Drowning Pool's 'Mute' starts right as Piccolo is hit and adds some impact to it. Whereas in the remastered version it just kinda fades in a little before the hit occurs and losses that impact.
Also I dont think this is against the rules, so here are some links for DBS Broly. I have downloaded and tested both and they work great.
English - https://zooqle.com/dragon-ball-super-broly-2018-english-1080p-amazon-webrip-x8hfg.html
Japanese (Eng Subs) - https://zooqle.com/dragon-ball-super-broly-2018-1080p-web-dl-x265-hevc-10bit-aac-5-x8j80.html
@Darkrenzo: Instead of giving anyone zooqle links, try to provide them nyaa links, mate. The links you provided on zooqle got DMCA ed. Btw, the second link, Japanese with Eng Subs, is my torrent. Thanks for suggesting it to someone! :D
@ Daniel234
I mean, yeah, I can see about downloading the FUNi Dragon Box dub audio files and then uploading them on here. Dunno if it'll sync as this release is the R2J and the audios are from the R1.
That's how the original source is, unfortunately. Maybe the solution is to inverse telecine it to see if the uninterlaced frames are recoverable/isolatable/etc.
R1US does not have this problem, but the image is soft af imo.
Please seed!
If anyone already has it and is willing to make an alternative download, I can snag it and seed for 2 or so months. Current D/L speeds are looking like it'll take about 40 days, yikes. Either way, thank you for the awesome upload. There are not many high quality 4:3 rips of Z out there, so raws are the best route.
Edit:
@correvlr I know a remux of GT out of the GT boxes exists, its about 70 GB if I recall. As for Dragon Ball / Films, while they aren't raws technically the Utsukishii rips are super high quality
@ YaBoiAlex
I think the FUNimation dub from R1 Dragon Box does sync with the R2J Dragon Box and I've found where it's available for download, so I'll get the video files and then extract the audios off 'em. It's kind of a painful process to download like 50GB ~ 80GB just to get audio files from it but I'm used to it now.
Think I'll try do a Dub/Sub batch for Dragon Ball Z (R2J Dragon Box Z Remux) like I've done for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT.
Hm, sorry. The English FUNi dub from the R1 Dragon Box Z doesn't sync smoothly with the R2J version.
There's one remaining option: Audio syncs by iKaos.
I tried downloading this to see if i liked the 4:3 version more than the 1080 one (https://nyaa.iss.one/view/660445), but this one looks way more grainy? why do people download this one instead of the other if this one is so grainy, is it because it gives you the original feeling or am i missing something?
Hey all, can anyone help me out, I've noticed that these episodes contain all the next episode previews compared to the US Dragon box which for some reason which when ripping don't include them from episode 8 onward on each disc? did the US Box sets not contain them?
@cornbeatle
Not an expert here, but using ffmpeg:
#### `ffmpeg -i input -c:v libx265 -crf 20 -preset medium -tune grain -c:a copy -map 0:? output`
+ **-i input**: put the full path to your input file. If your terminal/shell/cmd is already in the directory/folder of your input (use the `cd` command to navigate), just put the name of your input file
+ **-c:v libx265**: HEVC encode
+ **-crf 20**: 'Constant Frame Rate' option; 20 is good number for SD content, imo. Lower means less compression and higher means less compression. Since the raw footage is already compressed, really low numbers will not improve the quality and will only increase its size.
+ **-preset medium**: speed of the encode. Faster encodes will produce larger files, while slower encodes will produce smaller ones. The options are ultrafast, superfast, veryfast, faster, fast, medium, slow, slower and veryslow (the standard optinm is medium, therefore you can omit "-preset medium" if you want the medium option). This options will not change the quality of the video.
+ **-tune grain**: Optional. Helps to keep the grain if you are not compressing too much. If you compress too much (using a high CRF number), then this option will give you some macroblocks in the video output.
+ **-c:a copy -map 0:?**: Will copy all of the audio streams to your new container without reenconding.
+ **-output**: substitute this to the full path to your output file. If your terminal/shell/cmd is already in the directory/folder you want your output in, then just put the name of your output file.
ps: using quote marks helps you to type the spaces and special characters of your file path and file name without having to use backslashes.
Examples:
If your terminal/shell/cmd is already in the right directory/folder:
`ffmpeg -i "Dragon Ball Z - 001.mkv" -c:v libx265 -crf 20 -preset medium -tune grain -c:a copy -map 0:? "[H265]Dragon Ball Z - 001.mkv"`
or
`ffmpeg -i Dragon\ Ball\ Z\ -\ 237.mkv -c:v libx265 -crf 20 -preset medium -tune grain -c:a copy -map 0:? \[H265\]Dragon\ Ball\ Z\ -\ 237.mkv`
If it is not in the right directory and your input file is in the "Videos" folder (using windows):
`ffmpeg -i "c:\Users\%USERNAME%\Videos\Dragon Ball Z - 001.mkv" -c:v libx265 -crf 20 -preset medium -tune grain -c:a copy -map 0:? "c:\Users\%USERNAME%\Videos\[H265]Dragon Ball Z - 001.mkv"`
@thepunisher
For Box 1, it comes from this patch: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/941354
For Box 2, using the patch became impractical, so I used Funimation's R1US subtitles and retimed them to sync R2J.
I converted all those vobsubs to ASS format using an OCR software.
Hey @Romao can you release a colour corrected version and less grainier?i tried removing grain on episode 93 with magic bullet denoiser 3,it took 2 hours to render and it looked awesome and it did'nt lose any detail.I've seen some fan made colour corrected and denoised clips and some of them have done an amazing job at removing a considerable amount of grain without losing quality.
is there any way to remove the Iconic picture you put in on every episode ?
this is the best DBZ quality I've ever seen but the iconic picture ruined it for me x_x
I wish some one use the same quality and audio tracks of these episodes and add Funimation's Audio tracks very soon without iconic pictures .
@The-good_Man1994 If you get MKVToolNix and open the file there, there's a tab that says "Attachments" and a thing that should say "cover.jpg" uncheck that and hit start multiplexing
I want to get some english audio files compatible with this release. Any that you know? I tried to sync the winxbloom english tracks with this, but the audio doesnt sync after the intermission of the episode (those scenes were goku and gohan show up saying hi to the screen)
Btw thanks for the ffmpeg line to make these h265, now it only takes less than 200gigs
when i play this on my tv the subtitles are, i dunno, lagging? like each line is displayed too long and then the next line is skipped over. plays normal in VLC on my PC though. can anyone tell me why or how to fix it?
Regarding the problems of the japanese DBox episode 24:
The problem is that the first half of the episode is wrongly flagged as progressive while it is in fact encoded as interlaced. You just have to set the flag of the first half correctly and you don't have this problem anymore. You can split the mkv file by chapters, fix the flag of the first part using ReStream and then joining them together by remuxing them (e.g. by using mkvtoolnix).
@The-good_Man1994 What iconic picture are you referring to? I just started downloading this, only have the first episode finished and don't know if I missed the picture you're talking about.
@Romao love the work, appreciate it. I'll seed this for a while to help others. Is there a chance of getting an English Dub patch? I don't really care if it's Falconer or Original soundtrack, just having an English dub as well would really complete this. Thanks for your work.
@XxBlazer69xX
Thank you. My answer to you also goes to everyone else asking for the English dub. I happen to know English, so I'm perfectly comfortable watching Dragon Ball Z subtitled in English. However, I'm not a native English speaker and I have zero nostalgia to any kind of English dub, therefore I wouldn't have any interest in manually synchronizing it as I did to the Japanese broadcast audio. There's no official release which has the English audio synced with this DVD. I'm sure some fans have already synced the English dub with the R2J Dragon Box, though. They just haven't uploaded it yet.
I tried to add brazilian portuguese audio and subtitles to this, which are synched to the original dragon box. It works for every episode, except the a very few first.
It get's out of sync after the interval/break.
Seems weird, the media info claims variable frame rate. So what I'm guessing is that the opening has a different frame rate compared to the episode itself?
So I did 0-39 from levels set and 40-291 from dragon box.
Obrigado.
@Romao
hahahah! Agora sim!!
@Tensai1989 Here they are. https://mega.nz/#F!PElACAqS!YZeVPgwhi1F7UMcxL4nThg
@Romao
As legendas:
https://mega.nz/#!uUtRGKxS!rh1KPlGhW-1GQ8GB_Jr0GSxNoGt_H-ArI0pjnoTHmAI
Do ep 035-271, eu ajustei o timming baseado no audio e acredito estar 100% correto.
São 2 legendas, uma completa arquivos terminados em 01.
O segundo arquivo é a legenda forçada, usada somente para apresentação do próximo episódio.
Thank you Romao, very cool! I will try to seed (need to make sure I don't get caught this time, any ideas??), has anyone successfully synced english audio to these episodes, if so, could we talk on discord. As well, I am downloading in 70-150 gb pieces, should that work??
Can I ask you something, for some reason after episode 67 there´s clear loss in quality, color banding etc, also the colors seem different, you sure this is raw?? just asking, thanks anyways this is awesome
@Ezequiel13man Yes, I am sure :)
I don't see any particular problem to episode 67, if you have any screenshots to show those problems. Also, it's normal that the color palette varies a bit from episode to another because of the aging of the film reel.
I recall Winxbloom1980's original upload missing 1 or 2 episodes of actual broadcast audio, and instead subbed in audio ripped from a VHS fansub (which, while clearer than the Dragon Box audio, was still pretty muffled, noticeably so)
I don't remember what episodes they were exactly (I think they were in the middle of the Boo saga somewhere), but has anyone watched through these yet and checked to see if those episodes are still missing good audio?
Oh yeah BTW #269 has a re-recorded line at 7:46
In the Dragon Box audio, Vegetto says "The Grand Kaioshin-sama was right. The power of these Potara is incredible!", and this is reflected in the subtitles
but in the broadcast audio, he says (roughly) "How long are you planning on staying in that pitiful state?! Hurry and regenerate!"
No one really knows why this line was rerecorded, and why it's only on the film master and not the broadcast tapes, but I figured you should know anyway in case you wanna figure out some way to reflect the changed line in your subtitles
@ SSP
There's the Dragon Ball Z R2J release by iKaos, I'd say that's the definitive for Z English dubs overall. It isn't DVD Remuxes but it's high quality DVD encodes.
@ Don Miguel
R2J = Region 2 Japan
There's R2 PAL and R2 NTSC. R2 NTSC is mostly exclusive to Japan while R2 PAL to the European continent and Australia/NZ.
Thanks for this! I'd been working on syncing up the audio to the R2J Dragon Boxes (and muxing with the Utsukushii releases), but I stalled out somewhere around episode 230. I might as well just replace with this release. :)
The description mentions using WinxBloom1980 audio along with some others. Was there any post-processing done to it or anything? Your audio sounds a bit louder and clearer than the files I was using, so I was curious if you used the FLAC versions or just cleaned them up some. Either way, thanks again for sharing your work! My seedbox is pretty budget tier, but I'll seed as many times over as I can.
@Romao audio is slightly out of sync with lip movements some scenes are more noticeable than others
Im using the second audio track, wasn't this supposed to be source material or did you manually sync it?
Best video source (arguably of course) + best audio source(s). Perfect combo! Thanks so much for the effort, and to all the seeders, especially the guy with the Leaseweb seedbox lol.
Abaixo deixo a legenda separada.
Discord, correio digital, o que for.
has anyone made like a small size version of the dragon box that is around 30gb? it doesnt seem impossible (since theres a batch of db dbz and dbgt all in 480p x265 but its the bricks set: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1028737) but i cant find any here.
@Romao and others I have had my eyes on this torrent for a while. But when I was downloading, I got my second DMCA notice from my ISP, almost certainly because I was downloading Avengers, this caused me to panic and back off. I have a few questions: have you ran into DMCA/copyright complaints from file or has anyone else, and 2.) has anyone been successful at adding funimation audio to these files? Also, if i use a vpn and specific bit torrent client, do you think i would be okay. Also, if this file is an NZB could someone let me know
@Laboo415 I don’t wanna guarantee anything but in my experience, I’ve downloaded this torrent without getting any of those types of notices and I’ve only gotten a notice like that for downloading a movie (similar to you downloading Avengers), If you want to be on the safe side though, a VPN would be good
Okay, I started, I bought Nord (possibly a mistake), and I am starting this download. I am at a good pace, and I can seed for possibly a month after my download maybe more. If I have 260 gb free on my computers hdd, can i transfer files to my external hard drive at some point before I run out without jumping the gun.
@michel050877 ---> Hello, human! Yes, I have... are Fansub Kintoun subtitles.
I just love it when dudes go like "shit can't find the right settings to compress this without losing too much quality you know what fuck that here's some raw MPEG2"
Quality stuff, thanks bro
@Romao I appreciate your work and effort. I'd be really glad if you could do a project for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT too, if possible! Thanks anyways:)
@Romao Do you plan to make a re-release with updated broadcast audio? I know Ikaos already uploaded a full DBZ release but this actually looks a lot better: http://www.framecompare.com/screenshotcomparison/KZWZLNNX
Late to the party but those comps are for my old release, not the current SoM DBZ batch release (labeled as v3 for this purpose). The batch (which was worked on by Romao, who uploaded this torrent) has improved video and audio over raw DBOX.
