Subtitles: English styled ASS based on Soldats. Typesetting, timing, ocr, retranslations and fixes by yours truly.
Thanks to Soldats and @Tanij who ripped most of the subs and made my job easier.
###### **Comments about the subs**: The whole point of this release was to update Soldats subs and make a proper softsubbed version, in the end I've fixed many translations mistakes, OCR mistakes and re-translated some completely fake made up translations/dialogues which some whole episodes had.
###### **Comments about the video**: Let's get this out of the way, this is a webrip so don't expect BD quality here but is obviously better than DVD quality, there's some "problems" with the source mainly the bad (bitrate-constrained) encoding made by GYAO which is to be expected for a web only release of an old show, there's also other artifacts with the Openings/EDs but the episodes themselves look great 99.5% of the time.
HOOOLLYYYY CCRRAAPPPPPPPPP! I been mucking about on this on and off, nice!
How do these compare with [SOFCJ-Raws] Shaman King (DVDRip 768x576 x264 10bit AC3)? I am still getting anyway LOL
Thank you for the hard work!
I'll watch these and take some notes on anything I think is out of place, I am a native English speaker but I can't grammar worth a damn and don't keep up with every little nuance of language changes, still can at least log the things I see and people can comment on what fixes could be..
They look better than SOFCJ's mainly because of the higher resolution, so everything looks more sharp and defined but SOFCJ surpass it in the bitrate department so it has less artifacts, mainly banding, anyways those raws are okay-ish but hopefully a BD release is on the horizon.
And yeah report everything you can, sadly I don't have the time or will power to re-watch the series again. I know some signs might be misplaced because of some resolution changes that I did to the sub files so if you encounter any of that let me know, also some episodes are missing the period at the end of the line, which was caused by the OCR I'm guessing but I couldn't be bothered to fix it, if only I could automate that but I'm no programmer.
That's all the problems I know of, everything else left are only improvement of dialogues so it flows more naturally and grammar which only native speakers can do.
I think those are the best raws/source to date, the Yahoo 1080 are kinda cheap upscales not bad not great but I guess people will find something to complain about. Took a quick look at acouple eps, its a bit over sharp, I don't mind it that much. I am still amazed tho I never got to far OCRing them, this looks and sounds so good, can't wait to marathon it, I think I can process 5eps a day and still be able to take notes LOL. The past year or so I been working on the first 10 eps or so then found out that most of it was hard subed which really sucked because I hit a wall with the OCR.
This particular show is a bit of a nightmare to OCR while maintaining Soldats original style and that's the main reason I never got past episode 1. I still have all the Soldats episodes in one of the external hard drives just in case I change my mind one day. xD Anyway, thank you for your hard work in providing this.
I was scrolling through episode 28 and there seems to be some color bleeding problems in this source that weren't present in the DVDrips from SOFCJ-Raws

Although it might be that they fixed it on their release with an avisynth script
THANK you for this. I had planned to re-watch this with a newer release hopefully but older shows hardly get updates in the subtitles or video quality awxruib, and @Higger. I KNOW. TF is going on. I can't believe they're doing a new adaptation 20 years later.
I wonder how it'll go. 98'-02'-03' you had a lot of shows with "season 01" consisting of 52 fucking episodes minimum. These days you're lucky if you get 13 that are average 22 minutes lol.
@VyseLegendaire Yeah... but still better than DVD, I think we won't be seeing this one on Blu-ray anytime soon if ever now with the reboot coming.
As someone who translates shounen animes for a living for a certain streaming company, I hope I can get the privilege of working on the reboot, though this version is probably gonna become obsolete now, so I'm pretty much leaving it as it is.
Oh,crap! It was a mistake on my part. I didn't make a backup for the subtitles before encoding it to lower file size. When I encoded the episodes using Cyko, it messed up the subs. Just downloaded one episodes from this torrent and the subs works fine. T_T
> Ohh…boy thought someone would post the subs separately in the comments by now…sadly none have done it.
I don't mind doing that if anyone needs it. Tho I'm still waiting for JPBDs.
