Hold up, at ~13:20 Shamiko-chan says “I’m a high-schooler.”, but these subtitles say “I’m a middle-schooler.”

No mistake here. High-schooler is “Joshikousei”. Middle-Schooler is a “Koukousei”. Shamiko is approx 8th-9th grade. Which is still middle school (7-9 grades) in Japan. High school is 10-12 grades.

Female high-schooler is Joshikousei/JK, from Joshi Kokousei. Koukousei is high schooler. Chuugakusei is middle schooler. See eg 女子高生 and 高校生 vs 中学生.
