This is a project I have been working on for more than 2 months.
- **This is a Remux of the best Video and Subs available. Not my usual miniHD encode. Nothing is touched.** (After spending so much time on this series I couldn’t bring myself to delete it.)
- For the subs I've chosen Coalgirls where it was available, which is the best group for this series **In My Opinion.**
- Most of the subs comes from [zangafan.](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/969454) He has done a great job at removing Coalgirls Ordered Chapters. It's nasty stuff. But as a result of removing OC, signs were out of sync. And since I was watching from the start I synched every sign I could see. (If you see any more dont't bother me about it. I'm spent.)
- For Koyomimonogatari [Sajamba](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/835714) had the best subs and it was already using [Beatrice-Raws](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/827966) and all I did was correcting a sub glich in ep7 and adding track names. So all credit goes to Sajamba.
- Everything is ordered in airing order. Except for Kizumonogatari. Watching this after Bakemonogatari gives you the best experience. Because throughout the series you hear names, events etc. that's happened in Kizumonogatari. Which is how the Author intended.
- **miniHD version is [HERE](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1194976).**

@SomaHeir
Coalgirls used to do subs before the group disbanded back in 2016. The main translator quit because they were having life issues, and felt it was time to move on.
Read this last post.
https://coalgirls.wakku.to/10222/the-end
>You don’t use honorifics. Which is important for me.
weird because i don't remember honorifics being important at all in this anime (also coalgirls used our subs for owari so actually you did use our subs)
>Coalgirls used to do subs before the group disbanded back in 2016. The main translator quit because they were having life issues, and felt it was time to move on.
lol coalgirls never had any translators or their subs for this series wouldn't mostly be edits of extremely shitty official subs that still have mistakes
@Commie
"It has been over a year since I last subbed anything"
^Then who is this that left this in their last post back in 2017? Did they classify taking someone else's subs as "fansubbing" then?
> weird because i don’t remember honorifics being important at all in this anime (also coalgirls used our subs for owari so actually you did use our subs)
I hear Araragi-kun but I see only Araragi in the subtitle. This feels like the word is incomplete. Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean it doesn't exist.
And I know Coagirls used your subs but they also added honorifics.
@EDrag
I’m seeding at 5mbps so it’s going to be a long ride.
>I hear Araragi-kun but I see only Araragi in the subtitle.
no, you hear 阿良々木くん. you hear lots of japanese that you seem perfectly fine with being replaced with english. honorifics aren't special.
>Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
no, i meant they never discuss honorifics in the show or anything like that which would make keeping them necessary. so it doesn't matter if they're included or not.
Don't mean to extend the honorifics war (I like reading them in the subs, myself), but...
* Bakemonogatari had a thing with how Araragi was addressing Hitagi when he took her to meet my buddy to the left. Honorifics were a big part. She wanted him to call her with -sama.
* Nisemonogatari had a scene in his bedroom where Araragi got teased by Tsubasa about using -chan to refer to his sisters. I looked up the context and found it funny. I guessed you just skipped it?
Pretty sure there were other such occasions throughout the various series where dropping the honorifics diminishes the result, given Nisio Isin's well-known language games.
IMNSHO, even fansubbers who are militant anti-honorifics types should choose to leave them in when it really matters.
>I looked up the context and found it funny. I guessed you just skipped it?
i didn't work on nise since i hated it so can't really comment there. bake aired before commie even existed, though -sama is super easy to handle in general.
>Pretty sure there were other such occasions throughout the various series where dropping the honorifics diminishes the result, given Nisio Isin’s well-known language games.
those "language games" are far more numerous than any discussion of honorifics, yet i bet they're all translated, even in the weebiest of translations.
honorifics just caught on for no real reason when they're in no way more important than many other parts of the language (like personal pronouns, all the different levels of polite language, dialects, etc.). my experience is nearly 100% of people who think honorifics are super important don't know japanese. consider this: when translating english media to japanese, do you think they add honorifics, or does the translation just not have any if there aren't any like mr./ms. used in english? the answer is they obviously add them because it's a part of the language. they give each character a specific personal pronoun too. that's why we do the same thing in english. japanese honorifics aren't (yet) part of the english language, so we remove them and write the dialogue naturally to fit how those honorifics display the interaction between the characters.
@Styx235 - I wasn't commenting on this torrent. I have all the stuff already, several in multiple releases, so I'm not getting this one for myself. Feel free to jump on it and nevermind me.
@herkz - Commie does great work on subbing, in my book. I don't speak a word of JPN, but I've compared yours against CR and others' releases, and enjoyed many of your phrasing choices. I can think of several just in your Mono releases, as well as the times you creatively unlocked some of those word games (again, I realize I can only compare). I'm not saying ALL honorifics need to be included. In most cases, I don't miss them...until I do. Like when Kaleido-subs cropped Raphtalia's "Naofumi-sama!" toward the end of Tate no Yuusha ep 2, it just felt bad (though I'll still be getting their promised BD releases of that, whenever they arrive). I didn't watch Commie's Nise, so I don't know how the ep 4 bedroom joke was handled there...I should check it out. Just giving a little feedback, not really a case for global change. I get the "honorifics are Japanese words and don't belong in English subs" argument, very clearly. But, at some specific times at least, I like it anyway.
While I appreciate you using CG subs, last time I checked those subs, the main dialogue font is slightly different (boldness/outline) between like Bake, Nise, Kuro, Owari. And CG didn't have OP/ED for Owari, so I assume this one (with Beatrice-Raws) doesn't have it either (unlike ReinForce). So until then I'll just patiently wait for someone to restyle/fix everything and remux it with ReinForce instead.
First of all a thanks for a great release. I started this series with Bakemonogatari, but it has been so long time so i have to rewatch the ep. of that season. By doing that I can finally watch it in correct order. :)
@Cerberus Thanks for doing a release with honorifics. I also feel that is needed to make the subtitles complete. I also understand the reasoning for the ones who are against. For those who are against it there is apparently a release WITHOUT honorifics for people like @herkz who prefer the subs without honorifics. Here we go: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1160744.
However this is a perfect release. Once I am finished downloading I will seed until I am completed it + until there is no peers on my bar. ^_^ I am a nice guy. Have seeded 1,87 TB of this torrent: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/989243. So yeah, that should indicate something. Again a huuuuuuuuge hug to Cerberus-senpai! ^_^
As a end note, for more information about the order, this is currently the best site I have found: https://www.animeimpulse.com/blog/2019/2/19/the-recommended-order-to-watch-the-monogatari-series.
PS! I will try to give you as good feedback as I can. Since I am noob at every part of fan subbing I can hardly give any feedback. But I will try to give feedback as I watch the series. Thanks again! ^_^
It's a great release and I am thankful for all the work put into this.
Been seeding for a week but so far my seed ratio isn't looking good with bare 6.46GiB (0.04).
I seed every torrents for as long as I can, so I hope people would do the same. :-)
Anybody, watch Nise and Neko (2012) after Bake, and **Kizu** (2016) only after Owari S1 (2015) if art style matters to you.
Watching how they met before Bake started (Araragi, Hanekawa, Shinobu) is not very enjoyable, even though it presents the Light Novel following Bake. The movie feels too dramatic, unlike the light-hearted series where the characters tease and talk a lot. In the movie there is too much silence.
Thanks for the all in one package!
If anyone uses plex - I did around an hour of digging in tvdb, organizing, and renaming to have it pull all the correct metadata and figured i'd post it here to save somebody the time.

In case anyone wants it, I resampled Edo's v2 subtitles to fit the 1920x816 resolution of Kawaiika's video for Kizumonogatari. Probably also fits with Beatrice video found in this release. May not be perfect since I tweaked it manually (Aegisub automation was squishing text) but all the TS fits as it does in Edo's release and dialogue / song karaoke isn't cut off or missing. TS positioning is "Edo original" and not misaligned where Edo can be found in other releases (such as Cerberus).
