The 30th Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray release by FUNimation are just the Season BDs in 4:3 with "improved" colors (a little too pink for my liking), DNR'd to death, fake grain and pretty basic looking title episode cards. Those who bought it vehemently defend it, probably because they sunk so much money into it and they somehow think this is the best Dragon Ball Z will ever look... It's one thing that they enjoy, but it's another to say that the picture quality looks great.
The farmer scene looked okay, the Z title intro was good but colors looked darker. Could be because it's off YouTube and not the disc. There was too much pink though in some scenes but it could be worse in reality. It could be better as well.
Maybe if they just slapped the broadcast video (upscaled to 1080p or higher without ruining it) with the Blu-ray audio, it could be so much more.
I'm currently encoding the whole box from the Blu-ray discs. Keeping the audio files 100% intact and there's no difference quality wise also when I compared the encoded version to the source. Season 1 isn't better than the level sets but I do think the rest is better than the dragon boxes when comparing frame by frame.
they will be better looking then those Youtube clips.
The Youtobe compression let them looke worse then they are.
They are actually looking decent in my opinion far better the the Seasons Blu Ray Set.
Dragon Box is looking more like it should be but those are sharper making in look better on a big TV.
There is a good difference on Image Sharpness on a 75" TV
On Smaller normal TVs i'd prefer Dragon Box over those.
