you got busy for the holidays I see XD happy new year for you all!
Kinda pointless since Kaleido already released this. Bloatfree.

Kinda pointless to express your useless thoughts here. If you're not willing to download, just skip it.
how will you improve if you don't accept criticism?
@herkz It's a stupid "critique" that should be ignored. Oh one group already did a release? That means no other group should touch it then I guess. If the critique was related to the actual release (i.e. they should have done this and that for the encode for these reasons) then it would be worth considering.
thanks for the release, friends
I mean, their encodes are mostly bloats that die really quick. Couldn't ever download Re:Creators after half a year. Guess nobody bothers to download bloat x2-x3 target size. Kaleido can keep up same quality with reasonable fize size. Guess that's why people call most raws groups trash. Welp, it's 2GB with HEVC. Kinda laughable file size. This show doesn't have much movement/action.
@Kamiyan93 What did you mean by "quality with reasonable fize size"? Usually people wants less than 1 GiB encodes, but we, encoders of Beatrice, aiming for the best reachable quality at reasonable file size. The reasonable size - 50% of the source material and less, if you want to enjoy watching on a wide range of playback devices. That means, we allow codec to pick that much bitrate it needed to maintain that quality, and we definitely doesn't trying to fit it into ~1 GiB per episode. As you probably know, certain source might request less bitrate, when another one will ask a lot. Compressibility depends on many things. Some releases looks good with even 400 MiB, others will require 2.5 GiB to provide desirable quality. That's it! We targeting quality of results, not a size. If you're willing to sacrifice quality, pick our 720p releases when possible. Plenty my encodes has 1080p and 720p versions. If 720p isn't an option, just search for something else and don't complain. I'm not going to explain my decisions about filtering and encoding to every dissatisfied. PS. At the moment, the support seed torrents problem has been partially resolved. It could have been done much faster If someone us support financially, but it didn't happen. @watashi666 happy new year too!
>If the critique was related to the actual release (i.e. they should have done this and that for the encode for these reasons) then it would be worth considering. the critique is that the filesize is almost certainly excessive. the video has probably not even been compressed much more than 1/3rd of its original size, despite using HEVC which is supposedly more efficient than h264. unless this anime has gigantic grain the entire time, there's no good reason the files should be so large. >others will require 2.5 GiB to provide desirable quality. i've never seen an anime need that much bitrate unless it's something from the 90s or earlier and has legit film grain. i'd be pretty impressed if you could produce a comparison that shows the same episode losing detail at 2gb vs. 2.5 gb. >I’m not going to explain my decisions about filtering and encoding. lmao
@herkz The more small details an frame second and third plans has, the more bitrate it takes to save them. If you intentionally reduce the bitrate to fit into a specific size, these parts may disappear completely. I agree that not everyone notices anything beyond the main characters, but that doesn't mean everyone else should do the same. Also, this anime has scenes of flashback that contain quite a large grain.
Not sure why anyone is surprised. This group has literally put out 720p DVD encodes before and the vast majority of their 1080p encodes are 720p native shows. They even released a 45GB 1080p Samurai Champloo encode not long ago and the bluray for that is an SD upscale.
~ 35gb Samurai Champloo. Stop plus the size of bonuses (music and scans) to the size of the series. Comparision US BD v2 vs JP BD – https://slow.pics/comparison/9edd2b63-c7c0-45cc-b601-3fff1ba6ee7d Comparision source vs rip – https://slow.pics/comparison/cc0fdc5d-e8f9-4c0a-a210-6f34e72f2d9e Source of video for rip - US BD v2 (ending from JP BD). The original resolution of course most affects the final size, but specifically the transfer is no less, and sometimes more.
At first, Thanks for the volume guys, we are still waiting for the rest of all your future projects! Everyone here already knows how Beatrice's logic works, so you dont have to explain things. Maybe some are crying because of their weak internet or storage or ..., and keeps blaming the others, instead of trying to fix their conditions by getting good materials. But please! keep going @Beatrice-Raws and do not give that much of time to such a bunch of school kids. Much love!
who cares about what herkz or Kamiyan say about encodes. i only care for what herkz writes about koyo and and owari 2 upcoming releases :P herkz by now should know that russian raws have their following. I dont remember any raws grp coming to bash or criticize commie encodes.... and dont get me wrong i consider commie an excellent source for subs, but i dont have 1 commie encode in my disks... i dont even look at them, i just get the subs. fansub grps rarely have a top tier encode, its simple as that... diminishing returns? maybe, but i dont care, I know the encoders I know their standards. if i waste 20 or 30% more space, i dont care.
@watashi666 @Paraexo Thanks for the kind words.

[Comparison here](https://slow.pics/c/nQRPlbwv) I'd say Kaleido's release is fine. Some textures looks like suffering from high psy values, otherwise it's okish. So people with low HDD space can pick Kaleido-Subs, and quality enthusiasts can pick Beatrice-Raws.
@eijig > This group has literally put out 720p DVD encodes before Good morning! :) DVD-upscales has began to pop up around 2010-2011. Here is a quote from back then: > https://web.archive.org/web/20120611024231/http://afternoonnapsempire.org/honey_and_clover2/ > Usually your software/hardware player uses state-of-the-art (irony, read “primitive”) bicubic scaling from 720×480 to full resolution introducing halos, jaggies, blurriness of small details due to dumbness of this realtime algorithm. However there is a proper way to scale – neural network scaling algorithm which is slooooow but you don’t have to scale all the way to 1920×1080 – it’s enough to scale to 1024×576 or 1280×720. Of course the difference might easily go unnoticed as it’s not as substantial as between real HD and SD, but it is there, and for some types of content, a lot of it. > the vast majority of their 1080p encodes are 720p native shows We know what native resolution each of our encodes has, thanks. It differs from 480 to 1080 (2K for UHD BD). But we don't do stupid encodes in 1080 "as is", as most encoders do. We descale source to native resolution, and then upscale it back using a high-quality algorithm, but only for lines. Examples of how this works can be found here - https://kageru.moe/blog/article/resolutions/ > They even released a 45GB 1080p Samurai Champloo encode not long ago and the bluray for that is an SD upscale. If the native resolution was ~ 480-540, then I do the encodes in 720, like I did Darker than Black TV1, Gunslinger Girl TV1, GITS SAC, Claymore. But sometimes I make exceptions if I like the picture after filtering in 1080, like I did Gunslinger Girl TV2 + OVA. If Samurai Champloo hasn't had so much shallow noise, I would have encoded it in 720. Also, without noise, the size would be half as much.
Great release. Looking forward to the full release. @Kamiyan93 What are you crying about? Are you so poor that you can’t afford a little bit of storage? The file size is not excessive at all, and it’s at a very reasonable size for being high quality.
@herkz "how will you improve if you don’t accept criticism?" It's been years that correctly filtered 720p DVDrips exist, sometimes exclusivities, but nyaa never changed its two-decades-old policy regarding upscales. Meanwhile, denatured works with oversharp and colour saturation done by various groups are common. Come on guys, where's the logic... Why spit on good works for which encoders can argue their filtering? Regarding "bloated" BDrips, If people care about quality detail and can afford big size files, then let it be. As already said, storage is cheaper every year.
@herkz how stupid can u be? u call bloated a critisism. lmao lol XD
