You're all welcome!
@DarthMage Maybe your player is automatically changing the aspect ratio to a wrong one, you can surely edit it in the Video options or something like that. If you need better assistance you can join our Discord
[Judas] 06 - Initial D Fourth Stage has a 4:3 aspect ratio, it should be 1.85.
You can fix them as a batch using the free JMkvpropedit.exe
Under the Video tab, paste in these Extra parameters to change the aspect ratio to 1.85:
--set display-width=37 --set display-height=20 --set display-unit=3
@Judas, I have tonnes of your encodes, but this is the first time I run into an issue that I cannot resolve in a hassle free way. Sure from a PC I can quickly resolve that via the player's settings but I use Plex and not VLC or MPC or any computer whatsoever to watch my media - I solely watch via AppleTV or casting. Plex allows you to adjust the streaming resolution & quality but not the aspect ratio. Gonna manually fix them via an MKV tool.
Edit: found the culprit in the video track display dimensions

With all that said, please know that I massively respect what you're doing for the anime community and will always be grateful for the encodes you dish out
thanks for the all in one release @judas :) awesome work
and thanks for fix @andor1999, works perfect although i just used mkvtoolnix, big thanks anyways!
@KingOfdarkness Unsure if this is the issue, but sometimes movies have 5.1 surround and you need to set it to 2.0 or you'll miss the rest of the channels.
Other than the issue with Initial D 4th Stage (I fixed it manually in a few minutes by setting 1920x1040 for the affected video files in mkvtoolnix and remuxing) this is a stellar release. Thanks a whole bunch!!!
Awesome release!
__Everyone who has some issues with the movies and 4th stage, here's some fixes --> VLC Media Player is needed__ (unless your player supports the given below):
- Audio for the movies is set automatically to 5.1 but you have to set it to 2.0.
--> Audio > Stereo Mode > Stereo
- Aspect ratio has been accidently put on a 5:4 scale but we need to put it on 16:9.
--> Video > Aspect Ratio > 16:9
This should basically do it! ^^
hey @Judas, is there a way for you to make a new torrent for 4th stage and the movies with the correct encode, cuz VLC doesn't fix it permanently, it's only in the player bro
Did you re-encode it, as in apply filtering? Because DarkDream's encode has left in a lot of artifacts. Even basic stuff like banding. Also, can you source the BDMV so I can encode it?
I just noticed these encodes. They are supposedly x265 re-encodes of my old encodes from multiple years ago. If this is the case, I am glad to see someone provided a smaller release for those who are not obsessed with quality, as mine are large quality based encodes and not highly compressed.
It looks like they didn't do the variable framerates correctly. The framerates are messed up in the couple stages/seasons I used timecodes files on, so that the animation was 23.976fps, and the CGI or end credits were 29.970fps for smoother, and proper playback. This means the episodes will go out of sync for you when you are watching it due to the video not playing back properly.
It also looks like the aspect ratio is incorrect, and or ruined for some of this series. The image is stretched out and distorted.
The extreme amount of compression made the banding much more obvious, and didn't do the fine details any favors.
Anyways, I only really came to mention that I have made new higher quality V2 encodes of the entire series. Both my video and audio are much better in the V2 encodes when compared to my older ones. I also have the newer released things included this time as well. The ones here are quite outdated now, and could be better with the V2 encodes of mine used as the source instead of the older ones. Hopefully the framerates would be done properly by whoever re-encoded these next time around, if it gets done again.
