Hi guys. Unfortunately this was my last upload. I'm not going to upload anymore thanks to esteemed elitists of Nyaa.
I have been encoding stuff for myself for more than 10 years and uploading them here for almost 2.5 years now.
At first I was going at my own pace like maybe 2 animes in a month.
But with the corona I had to work from home office for the last 2 months now. And I figured I can take requests since I like sharing stuff and have more free time now. Many of you thanked me.
And even if you didn't I can see it was liked from the download counts. And that made me happy.
I know some people hates Mini Encodes. But many people can't afford gigantic hard drives for BDrips or BDMV's. Or don't have fast internet to download. There is a reality called Money.
I was one of them. Thats why I learned how to encode in the first place.
Otherwise of course I would keep animes in full quality. I'm not stupid enough to think a 5 GB re-encode has the same quality as the 80 GB source file.
You know releasing an anime in good condition is hard and frustrating work. It takes your time, dedication and money. Yes money. Since I started taking requests my electricity bill has risen 50% due to
7/24 nonstop encodings and we use one of the most expensive electricity in the world here in Bulgaria. My wife is nagging me about it and I keep telling her I have to keep PC open because of business.
But thats not the issue here. I don't care about electric bill.

I'll admit I'm still butthurt about Monogatari Series. I worked on that anime for almost 3 months and the second I uploaded it people started bashing me about my choice of subs intead of thanking. I had to synch those subs frame by frame. It was frustrating as hell. Do your own release if you hate it that much.
But this last guy https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1238966#com-1 is what made me decide to stop. I know moozzi2 is filtering anime. But sometimes there are no other alternatives. It was the only complete BD in Nyaa.
When I saw his comment questions sparked in my mind. Why am I doing this? My real job is already stressful why am I adding more to it?
Why do I keep spending my time and money for these parasites who can't even say Thank You?

Hey man, just want to let you know that there are hundreds of us that really appreciate all the encodes you've made over the time. Some of us might not always comment and thank you but just know that there are people out there like me that really look forward to anything you release. Sad to hear that you're taking hits for trolls but I do hope this does not ruin you're motivation for good. But if this is really your last, then take care and thanks for all the great encodes over the years.
I don't think you should drop encodes, I think you should drop Nyaa.
Why not keep encoding but on platforms like Anirena to avoid people commenting ? You have your discord which is sufficient for feedbacks ?

Sorry to hear you'll be stopping and can only say that you'll be missed. It's unfortunate that long time contributors like you are becoming more and more discouraged by all the negative feedback. All I can say is there's been more and more entitled dicks that don't contribute in any way other than drive-by shitting on other peoples work. Unfortunately, especially in these times where most people are sitting at home with nothing much to do, there's going to be even more of these kinds of pricks on this site. The community needs to step up and stand by the contributors as I don't think the mods can/will do anything.
I hope real life is treating you well and wish you all the best.
Lessons learnt, hopefully:
1) Do your research first.
2) Do your research first as encoding times, especially H.265, takes forever.
3) If you get butthurt over valid critique you won't learn a thing.
4) If you get butthurt over non-constructive opinions the Internet is not place for you.
5) Especially when you are doing something for free, as your hobby.
With this attitude I think you shouldn't drop encodes nor Nyaa, you should drop from the Internet altogether. You can then ignore non-existent advices, bask in the imaginary torrent snatch count and even produce 8bit H.264 encodes with fast preset, so it's light on electricity. Anyway thanks for you insightful blogpost, I didn't know someone with 10 years of time consuming encoding experience could behave like 14 years old child. Apparently you have to learn patience and forward-thinking some other way.

Teams like Judas, AnimeRG, still receive those criticism, i personally saw a huge criticism about them at the discord channel of animeencodes, these guys expect quality of bonkai77 in every encode, you should not give a fuck, either they download or just ignore
Reaktor gave some of them an awesome, told them to bug off
I Personally wouldn't even reply back to these so called critics, a simple note like "download at your own risk, check the quality by downloading 1 episode" would be enough
I personally have been a member at Minitheatre.org for more than 10years, you should have joined a team like judas or animeencodes instead of starting solo
another thing always check your source, download the best quality available, i saw comments in your monogatari series, most of them supported you

I'm sorry for this comment. I didn't think it came off as butthurt or whiny. I did not intend it to be seen as criticism or judgemental. I was trying to make a lighthearted joke about how the Monogatari series is very hard to compile, and that there are so many collections being done by a lot of people, that no one agrees on anything. Despite that, I should've tried to make its tone clearer.

Aww man, I've been using yours for a long time, starting from SukaSuka from 2 years ago. Rather than quit altogether perhaps you could join encoding team or something.
With that being said, I honestly confused about the example of criticism that you put. The first and second one were totally idiotic people, there was no need to care for them really. The third one was actually fairly common. Not just you, I think I saw lots of complain whenever someone using Moozzi's raws. But really do you think that Moozzi care about the complains? Just look at Moozzi's uploads that even though there are many people complains about it, there are still lots of people use them anyway. So there is no need to listen to those complains anyway, let them download the bdmv and encode it by themselves tbh.
I actually was hoping that the mini encodes scene would grow on Nyaa (and anywhere else) as an all-time alternative for those with less disk space. And just when I thought it would take off, I had to see this!

The thought process behind why people want minis isn't hard. Most poeple don't have the drive space for a 30GB season of whatever. If they did, they'd just get that. It takes a special kind of idiot to pretend like they don't know why there are so many mini encoders.
Maybe you'll say that there are better mini encoders out there. Okay, but those encoders can't release every show out there and can't take every request. At the end of the day, Cerberus uploading takes nothing away from anyone, and gives something to many. It's not as though if he uploads something, then you suddenly can't get the anime you want. These complaints are just to see how hard that person can suck their own dick and it's embarrassing.

Love your recent work specifically fate/last encore,saenai, and seirei no moribito of which I havent seen the good file sizes you produce from any other uploaders. It really helps since my net speed is 2mb/s. I hope you stick around but if not thank you for your hard work.
You need some balls man. First of all these guys are anything but "elitist" because if you really analyse these guys they are anything but that.
The second link provided should be known that the second comment is by somebody with delusions who believes their subs are the best for the monogatari series. They are the ONLY ones translating (or editing) the way they do. A so called group that has ruined many other anime's (and still do to this day) due to their juvenile editing of the script. This same group also released Attack on Titan as "[Eotena Onslaught](https://nyaa.net/view/913193)" despite the manga English translation. That guy is obsessed with that anime. I would not even take what he/she/it says (unless factually correct) regardless of the torrent. That person has no life and if you can believe it that person was a mod with the original nyaa and was fully corrupt by marking CoalGirls releases as red just for using either one typeset, line, or whatever from that 'shit' group. You can tell these guys often make worthless comments, so they are easy to ignore cuz you are not going to be edified whatsoever on improving an encode or anything the majority of times.
Also know that these guys who prefer no honorifics and bash it for their deranged reasons seemingly do it as if they were in a cult. You cannot rationalize with cult members when it comes to this subject believe me. Go with your preference.

^ This is probably the most encouraging comment on nyaa I have seen. @Cerberus you must see this. @noZA_ took the time to list instances and find people who do what they want/believe-in irrespective of comments whatsoever, also listed alternates where you can continue your encodes. I, myself, being a new mini-encoder on nyaa, have started to get a taste of these bashings as well. But when I see a 200, 300, sometimes even 500 people downloading my releases, who cares about 1 or 2 "elitists" who can't even speak without being disrespectful? They are not even the people I'm encoding for. Also, being an "elitist" doesn't give one the right to bash people anyway... nothing really gives one that right, unless somebody has been attacking them in the first place. One also needs to know how to talk and express themselves in a proper way. If you can't, then it doesn't matter how knowledgeable you are, you remain a disrespectful human.
Don't you worry Cerberus, just look at your download count, not at your comments. I see some of them have 1000+ downloads! Doesn't that make you happy? Why does the opinion of some 2-3 people (who probably didn't even download the release) matter over the 1000s of people who actually downloaded your releases and (most likely) enjoyed them? Is it becuz they did not put down a comment? Why do you prefer a comment (a voice) over a download (an act)? Is it being fair?
Think about these questions once you've taken a break and your mind is at peace. I'm not answering any of them, and there's no "right" or "wrong" answer to any of these. Just ponder on them and see what you think as the right answers, and then act according to it. Hopefully, it'll help you take the right decision going forward.

@ Polarwindz you be surprised how little it takes for an encoder or a Light Novel TL to quite these days and for some dumb ass reason too. I read a lot of light novels and nearly all the series I have followed over the last year the Mother Fucking Translator has quite either before starting the next vol or a few chapters into the vol or just dropped it for Lack of Motivation or people's complaints and Cerbeus in this spot is no different. The Anime encodes I don't really care about since there is always another group willing to pick it up but when a TL does it because they feel they don't owe the readers anything that really Pisses me off after getting people hooked to the translations and there is always 1 smart -ass among the comments who say shit like if you want it so badly learn the Language and translate it your self and dude himself has not contributed at all either but giving another reader bad advice. You think if I could translate the Fucking Novels myself I would be hanging around the TL's site waiting for the next update fuck NO. I would be reading the Jap release on DAY 1 Ass-hole. My only choice is to count on that TL to pull his or her's shit together and continue the translations as they started. If they didn't want to commit to it then why did they ever start. My point was it's very easy to get people like the encoders and shitty LN TL's to quite for just about any reason.
