The subtitles works at first then it stops for all of the seasons, i use latest VLC

So my copy's English subtitles not working is "Normal"? Is there fix, or do I need to look for a set of subtitles for it else where? Thanks. And Thanks for the anime. My old copy is in bad shape compared to this one. Again, thank you!

It was strange that the subtitle line displays once and then stops working. It even does this if you disable subtitles, skip ahead, and then enable subtitles. So not a simple case of missing subtitle lines. I use ffmpeg to extract the subtitles (ass extension) and it gave many warnings of 'Unexpected ReadOrder 0' and finally 'ReadOrder gap found between 1 and 0'. After the subtitle files were extracted with the same video basename but with extension .ass, VLC automatically used the subtitle file when playing the video and NOW the subtitles are working fine, though I only checked the start, end, and random moments in between. To further investigate the issue with the original subtitles, I extract one with a different tool so the subtitle content is not altered in the process. It looks like original subtitle lines have the correct timing but just not in the correct sequential order in the file. No idea how it could get scrambled like this. So easiest fix is to simply use ffmpeg to extract the subtitles, which automatically fixes them, and then use these external subtitles instead. If the original plays fine for anyone, then maybe your player automatically fixes the subtitles upon loading.
