Synopsis (from [MyAnimeList](https://myanimelist.net/anime/949/Top_wo_Nerae_Gunbuster)):
In the near future, humanity has taken its first steps towards journeying into the far reaches of the galaxy. Upon doing so they discover a huge race of insectoid aliens known as "Space Monsters." These aliens seem dedicated to the eradication of mankind as they near closer and closer to discovering Earth. In response, humanity develops giant fighting robots piloted by hand-picked youth from around the world.
Shortly after the discovery of the aliens, Noriko Takaya, the daughter of a famous deceased space captain, enters a training school despite her questionable talents as a pilot. There, she meets her polar opposite, the beautiful and talented Kazumi Amano, and is unexpectedly made to work together with her as they attempt to overcome the trauma of war as well as their own emotions.
Dir. Hideaki Anno.

About this release:
This is a patched version of EG's release. Up until now, the EG release was the best out of any for Gunbuster. It was the only one that contained the original 2.0 audio, and it did not make use of any digital noise removal. However, this release wasn't perfect, as there were some missing/incorrect subtitles. Thankfully, a commenter by the name of Nick700 posted some subtitle patches in the comments a few years after the original posting. However, it was bothering me that the best release of this show had these issues, so I took it upon myself to create a new post with these patches already included.
The release includes all six episodes, along with three short bonus clips and all eight science lessons.
For the video side, the first four episodes and the first four science lessons were animated on somewhat blurry 16mm film, so the release only encoded them at 720p, as 1080p wouldn't include any extra detail. The rest of the science lessons and the specials were also kept at 720p. Episode 5 and 6, however, were animated on the much higher quality 35mm film, and are encoded at 1080p as a result. (They look great!)
On the audio side, the original 2.0 stereo track was included for each episode, the science lessons, and the specials. The release also includes a 5.1 surround mix which was created years later for a theatrical screening of the OVA. Since the original audio master tapes were lost, they had to bring back the voice actors and rerecord each line, along with mixing in replacement sound effects and the music. Because of this, many of the lines have a noticeable change in delivery, despite the same voice actors being used. Both tracks have been included for comparison.
Here are the specs, according to EG's original post:
Video: H.264 10bit @ CRF17.5-18
Audio: FLAC
Subs: Aegisub based on REVO
Special thanks to EG for the original release, along with Nick700 for the patches.
