Maybe I'm missing something, but wasn't the point of using x265 having smaller files then x264?

Not necessarily. I'm mostly looking at it for some of its different behaviors to x264 for now. That said, I did observe better detail retention, especially in dark and action scenes, at similar bitrates. So instead of "smaller and worse, but better than x264", it's "similarly sized and better than x264" here. This is also something of an experimental release for me.
Catering to netaro smh smh

tbh x265 is a bit of a meme and where it really shines is HDR/4k

That's true, but I did find some value in it. I'm interested to use it more and learn how to optimize it better in the future. This was a first step in that direction. Having reliable docs, unlike x264 is a huge benefit in that area.
well i haven't seen anyone use it that well yet and i'm sure people have spent a lot of time on it so i can only conclude x265 (the encoder itself) is a bit of a meme. or maybe x264 is just so good people had too high of expectations. anyway i will just have to hope av1 or something ends up being clearly better.
The encoder has matured quite well over the past few years, and imo is plenty comparable to x264 with enough time and energy put into learning how to use it (or rather, what good baselines are. You tweak largely the same settings you would with x264). Also, some groups have already switched over. Asenshi and Kaleido, for two. Jahy from GJM this season is h265 also, and there's a good chance more encodes will follow People who still insist it's "h264 but smaller!" have always treated HEVC as some magic bullet that it just plain isn't, I feel.
an encoder that produces slightly better quality video at similar sizes but takes multiple times as long to encode isn't particularly novel. also i personally have no interest in learning how to use it since unlike all you slackers it would actually delay my releases considerably just from the encode itself taking longer.

@DDY thanks for the info. i see.....
OMG OMG THANK YOU DDY FOR USING HEVC LETS FUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.now i dont have to worry about compatability issues in my TV, SUCK IT Hi10 TARDS
Netaro = happy. Thanks for the release!
BOOM!! Might want to rewatch this as a refresher on December. Once Part 2 is coming in Winter 2022 :) Thank You!!!
@DeathStroke's gimmick has leveled up. lol Thanks @DameDesuYo.
Encoding time isn't an important part of the leeching process anyway.
Do they redraw/improve the CG titan in BD? or no change as it was on TV?
Minor improvements only; cg is still cg (and shit)
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!
> i dont have to worry about compatability issues in my TV Your TV can properly render ASS subs?
poggers and thank you
Rewatch Time !! Thanks for the release
quote: now i dont have to worry about compatability issues in my TV > watching anime > on TV lmao
eh? I watch anime on TV. people usually have issues with fansub releases 'coz they wanna watch it directly on TV. let’s say you have a laptop then you connect it to your tv, I think you’ll be fine. unless your laptop is really old and doesnt even have hdmi output. but I think it’s just me. you do you. anyway thanks for the release. I hope scy make their own release for this show. :^)
>I hope scy make their own release for this show. :^) "I hope the sky is blue tomorrow"
is x265 actually better, judas encodes like this, currently downloading his mawaru penguindrum release but i think zurakus release was better? Thought x264 is much more better compared to this
why would you download poop mini encodes? That is the more pertinent question.
fuee, the hell is wrong with you? judas makes re-encodes. He takes stuff ALREADY encoded and encodes it AGAIN. His red releases are trash.
> “I hope the sky is blue tomorrow” sky is green
i sometime watch judas or even shitty reencoded because i don't give shit anymore about quality or when all good torrents are dead
@Dmonhiro dude calm down the only reason i download it was to compare it to zuraku's release because i can't find a decent release for penguindrum
I'm sorry, I did not see the question mark at the end. I though your said "x265 is better", not "Is x265 better?"
@fuee What's wrong with Zurku's release?
Thanks I wish everyone would stop releasing complete series when their is more still not aired ...
Thank You!!!
i've been hardsubbing anime on handbrake for 7 years so i can watch it on my TV because the ASS of subtitle file doesn't work properly i even tried MX player or VLC the image quality isnt as good as default TV Player. Y encoders these days dont upload hardsubbed anime
