#### **A new release is currently in the works by Seed of Might (including myself) so wait for that**
##### (This is the 1995-96 TV Series and Director's Cut only, and does not contain Evangelion: Death and Rebirth, The End of Evangelion or any of the rebuild films.)
**Video:** Renewal Encode by myself*, but it should directly sync with both [Sephirotic](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/831686) and [Jensen’s](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1321324) releases
**[Episode 16 Restoration](https://www.reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/btoqje/digital_enhancement_of_episode_16/) by Pwnsweet and Sephirotic*
**Audio:** Includes both the ADV and VSI (21-24 DC Only) English Dubs, as well as both 2.0 and 5.1 Japanese mixes (Non English Dubs can be found [here](https://mega.nz/folder/WEhUmQBa#0HIqDx6khTWVctMxYJkmIQ) eventually)
**Subtitles:** English subtitles are Netflix based with Titles/Signs from Sephirotic, Dekinai and Anatrok. Preference is given to terminology consistent with the Netflix dub.
**Bonus Content:**
- The Original Broadcast Masters of Episode 01-26 from the Archives of Evangelion DVD box set (Japanese Only)
- The Rushed Video (Animatics) Versions of Episode 09, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.
- The 4 Soundtrack albums released between 1995-96 in both Stereo and Surround

just when i downloaded the one from sephirotic, how does it compare to this one? https://nyaa.iss.one/view/831686 thx for your contribution
P.S is this the first release to contain episode 16 restoration? as i initially thought the aforementioned release had it too? or is this a different one?
PS V2: @mcbaws21. thanks, i'll try this one out then
@mcbaws21 yaa i know that u guys r working from scratch but i meant if his TL and TS are good u can use it and add modifications based on ur pref and liking.
Thanks, although is there a reason the English dubs to be TrueHD? As far as I know they haven't been released lossless yet unless I'm wrong. So taking the Netflix dub E-AC3 640kb/s and converting it to TrueHD 9,597kb/s just seems like a waste.
So I did not expect this much feedback on my release in such a short amount of time, so please forgive me on my slow response. First of all I'd like to apologize to Baws and Arid, I had no idea you guys were planning on making a release (or the release by Kef) and I had no intention on making any confrontations with you.
I guess I'll answer some of the questions people asked
@Arid0914 I've sent all subtitles / fonts over on discord, though a lot of the work was done by Dekinai in his release from way back.
@Otaskai I think it's technically the first to contain Sephirotic's restoration from around 2019, but it's been up on his MEGA folder for a long time now (https://mega.nz/folder/roBS0bzS#yheQbwYWX7WMt7Q_lqBULg/folder/HghSxaya). I'm pretty sure it's better than sephirotic’s release, but I haven't done any real test on that. (plus his has color correction)
@mcbaws21 I don't think I used any filtering on the release, definitely none to remove any grain. It's been around a month since I first encoded though
@Alucard01 I hope I'm not decreasing anybody's work, their release is likely to be much better and less bloated than mine.
Does the Netflix dub have Fly Me to the Moon restored?
Also, will the movies be done in the future? Both the Neon Genesis movies and the Rebuilds? They also need similarly great preservation efforts.
I would have two torrents for the Neon Genesis movies, one containing Death(true) and Rebirth from Archives along with its bonus features and Revival of Evangelion which contains Death(true)2 and EoE as well as the Video Format version of EoE and the bonus features that are not on the NGE series.
I love this but I would love it if other subtitle translation options are included like the ADV VHS, ADV Perfect Collection, ADV Platinum Edition, Sephirotic and Manga movie subs.
I would also love the Broadcast Masters with English subs and the original Director's Cuts from the '90s Japanese DVDs with English subs as well.
@HARVEST The Netflix/VSI dub does have Fly Me to the Moon restored. I do plan eventually doing Death & Rebirth + End of Evangelion at some point (Baws' upcoming release will likely have them) with a 1080 version of Death(true) [timed after the 480p Archives release] and the Manga Entertainment edit of Rebirth.
I don't actually own (nor could find) the 90's Japanese DVD's or even LaserDisc rips but if I have some spare time I can create more subs (Renewal and Broadcast) with the VHS, Perfect and Platinum translations on my MEGA folder.
@cfighter I'll see if I can create a DDL at some point
Out of curiosity why would you use the Netflix subs? As far as I understand they have an overly literal translation and are subject to a lot of criticism. Aren't Sephoric subs better?
@D4rksider It's up to interpretation about subtitles with accuracy, I only used the Netflix subs because they were easier to edit. But as I said to HARVEST I'll be happy to make versions on my MEGA with the VHS, Perfect, Platinum and Sephirotic subtitles at some point.
I finally have it all downloaded - outstanding work! Thank you so much for putting so much effort into creating such a definitive NGE release. Would love to see you tackle End of Eva soon, but for now I am plenty satisfied with this.
I'll be seeding for as long as I can; I have about 50% of it uploaded currently. If I had any criticisms at all on your release it would be that I feel the bonus content is a little excessive, with nearly 1/3 of the entire torrent size being nothing but the Broadcast Masters, Music Albums, and the Animatics in the bonus content folder. Don't get me wrong, they're great to include as bonus content but I feel like they could have been compressed down a bit or just moved to a dedicated torrent to bring this down to the actual 70gb that most people are probably interested in. It's a minor criticism but I thought it was worth mentioning.
If I were you, I would encode to FLAC rather than Dolby TrueHD.
FLAC is much more easily supported by everything, is easier to process and compresses much better (smaller sizes for the same quality).
I use a combination of FLAC.exe and foobar2000 for encoding to FLAC.
It's also weird that your TrueHD tracks are much larger than LPCM tracks of the same quality despite the fact that they have not been upsampled and TrueHD is supposed to compress PCM to smaller sizes while retaining the quality 1:1.
The only benefit of TrueHD is that it supports Dolby Atmos, but there is currently no way to encode Dolby Atmos tracks for now and the sources are 2.0 or 5.1, so FLAC still wins.
Also, the Signs for the Netflix translation still use the ADV/Sephirotic translation rather than the Netflix translation, even in the Netflix subs. So there is inconsistency, most noticeably in Episode 26, where the sign says Fear but Asuka says Terror, in the Netflix terminology, it says Terror all the way.
The Signs translations between the ADV revisions and Netflix also vary, while some of the Signs translations from ADV VHS and Perfect Collection are hardcoded into the video of their releases.
@HARVEST If I ever get round to doing a V2, that's definitely something I would redo, I'm not sure what exactly I was thinking when I encoded it in TrueHD and a combination of FLAC for the Japanese tracks and AC3/EAC3 for the English dubs would have definitely been better. About subtitles, that is probably something I'm likely to redo as well (as well as including other translations and actually subtitling the Broadcast Masters). But thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
@cfighter I'll definitely see how I can make it smaller if I ever come back to this

Here are my audio and subtitle rips of the Classic Manga dubs and subtitles for Death(true)2 and The End of Evangelion. These are bit-perfect rips from the DVDs in AC3 and DTS-ES, with VOBSUB subtitles.
If I were you, I would add Classic prefixes to the ADV and Manga translations as well as Official prefixes to the Netflix translations, while the fansubs would have Unofficial prefixes.

Let's all look forward to this fan restoration of EoE from the same people that remastered Episode 16.
Also, I would really appreciate it if a V2 (or maybe V3) comes out when the GKIDS BDMV gets leaked so we could have lossless versions of the Netflix dub as well as both Original and "Flightless" versions of the Japanese audio and ADV/Manga dubs with lossy AC3 audio for the Original English audio (Original Japanese will still be FLAC and also the reconstruction of the Netflix audio with FMttM) and FLAC for all "Flightless" versions.
I call them "Flightless" due to their lack of Fly Me to the Moon.
I think this finalised version would have the following:
Japanese: FLAC 2.0 (Original Mix Remaster)
Japanese: FLAC 5.1 (2003 Renewal)
English: Dolby Digital 5.1 (Classic ADV Dub)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Official Netflix Dub, Restored)
Bonus Audio Tracks (separate MKA):
Japanese: FLAC 2.0 (Original Mix Remaster, Flightless)
Japanese: FLAC 5.1 (2003 Renewal, Flightless)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Classic ADV Dub, Flightless)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Official Netflix Dub, Flightless)
English: Dolby Digital 2.0 (Commentary)
English: Dolby Digital 2.0 (Shinji's Rant)
As for the movies, it will be like this:
Japanese: FLAC 2.0 (Original Mix Remaster)
Japanese: FLAC 5.1 (2003 Renewal)
English: Dolby Digital 5.1/DTS-ES 6.1 (Classic Manga Dub, DD 5.1 for Death(true)2 and DTS-ES 6.1 for EoE)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Official Netflix Dub, Restored)
Bonus Audio Tracks (separate MKA):
Japanese: FLAC 2.0 (Original Mix Remaster, Flightless)
Japanese: FLAC 5.1 (2003 Renewal, Flightless)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Classic ADV Dub, Flightless)
English: FLAC 5.1 (Official Netflix Dub, Flightless)
English: Dolby Digital 2.0 (Commentary)
I actually like Rei I as the ending theme for some episodes and the arrangements do slightly vary depending on the episodes, at least on Netflix.
@HRSM I'm confused as to what the difference is between some of the episodes that have the ' after the episode number (like those from Episode 21 till Episode 24).
Are they simply the same episodes with different dubs, or something else?
@ChippewaBarr They are the "Director's Cut" versions of those episodes that have added scenes from Evangelion: Death. If in doubt, I'd watch the episodes that have the ' over ones that don't. (If you watching on Netflix, they use the Director's Cut versions for Episode 21-24).
Episode 21-24 OA only have the ADV dub while Episode 21'-24' have both ADV and Netflix dubs

This torrent seems like a good one to base off a remux of.
It just needs the subs and dubs and it would be great, especially its tons of bonuses. Most of the raw Japanese bonuses can be translated from the GKIDS Blu-ray.
Apparently, its encoder will also do Archives of Evangelion and the Rebuild films (they have already done 3.333 in 4K).
I still want to get the GKIDS Blu-ray since they are really great, and it's not their fault that Fly Me to the Moon cannot be included and that the ADV/Manga dubs/subs are an expensive limited bonus.
@Blain999 I'll see if I could make some for the broadcast stuff, tbh I would wait for either the Arid-Baws or the Seed of Might release of Evangelion when they are released since they will probably have better versions of EP16 rather than downloading this set. You might hear something about the broadcast/pre-renewal stuff soonish, but I'm currently involved with the SoM release so I haven't had time to dedicate.
