Here are episodes 1-2 of Tetsujin Tiger Seven, or simply Tiger Seven, with brand-new English subs.
These files use the old R2 DVD raws that have been floating around the web for a few years and have hardsubs, since these were originally on You Tube, and soft subs aren't compatible with You Tube's system. These were some of the first fansubs I ever worked on.
The translator for this project was Gilberto DNS, a newcomer who had an extensive background in Japanese language studies and lived in Japan for a number of years. He was passionate about Tiger Seven and P Productions series, and offered to time & translate if I would edit, encode, and check his English, which was only off here and there. The result was only two episodes, but they were a FUN two episodes, and Gilberto later fell ill and couldn't continue with translating (and no, he wasn't sick from Covid).
Gilberto did an all-new translation and didn't base it on anything HnT or MBE did in their fansubs. He also researched the villains of the series (the Mu Ancients) in real life, and found that a lot of the mythology used in Tiger Seven was true and accurate. Fancy that in a P Productions series!
Tiger Seven ran for 26 episodes and was P Productions' attempt at a Kamen Rider-style series, even going so far as to hire Shunuske Kinuchi, the composer of Kamen Rider, to do the music for this show. Go Takegawa is our brooding hero, who is given a special "SP" heart after nearly dying, and an Egyptian pendant that transforms him into the tiger-headed hero Tiger Seven. Tiger Seven fights against the ancient Mu Empire, whom Go's father mistakenly pissed off in the Sahara Desert by entering their underground tomb. Go seeks to stop the Mu from exacting revenge upon the human race and expose the truth of their existence to all humankind...if they'd only believe him, that is!
I decided to upload these fansubs for archival purposes, and in the hopes that another translator steps forward and takes up where Gilberto left off; I'm pretty busy with my own projects right now.
Enjoy this brief respite of classic tokusatsu, and be sure to seed for as long as you're able!
