This is a scrub I put together of the first ep of Toei's short-lived anime series "Hyouga Senshi Guyslugger," or "Glacier Warrior Guyslugger." The original scrub came from Project Z Scans, who used DownSub.com to get Toei's subtitle script from this same ep they posted on their You Tube channel. Project Z later went on and edited a lot of Toei's poor English out and made it flow better, but some of the lines were too long for the subs, and some of them had extra words that were just redundant or unnecessary. That's where I came in, as I scrubbed it even further (or harder?) and evened everything out. I also streamlined the fonts and timed everything to the 480p h264 raws that were uploaded on Nyaa by an anonymous uploader earlier last year; the raw looks 100% better and didn't require a lot of work to fix it. This show borrows a lot from Cyborg 009, but also has its own unique and somewhat tragic backstory, which clashes with the cartoony, comical look of the characters. It also takes place in Antarctica, hence the name "Glacier Warrior," as the Guysluggers awaken from being buried under the ice for 30,000 years to find their kingdom, Solon, has been obliterated by the Ice Age, and they are the only ones left to fight off the invasion of the evil alien race known as the Invem. A professor conducting research in the area encounters the Guysluggers upon their revival, and with his knowledge of ancient history, unravels their complicated origins, just in time for the Invem to show up again and try and invade Earth with a giant blimp. This show is wacky to the power of ten, so if you like your old-school anime with unusual character designs and absurdity, then Guyslugger will make you one happy camper. I don't know if Toei Tokusatsu World has ever subbed any more of this, but if they do, I'd love to take a stab at scrubbing more of it and muxing it to those new raws. Enjoy the show for what it is, and be sure to seed for a while after you're done!
