Encode Comparison vs. Source

Notes:

A minor forgotten work by Bandai Visual, which received a drama CD, manga, and side-scrolling action game on the PSX in vein of the Megaman X series.
This was more or less a side-project which I never intended to invest much time in, however one thing led to another. The source was really atrocious. VFR to preserve smooth motion during certain segments such as minor 3DCG in EP03 and scrolling English ED credits. Filtering to reduce dot-crawl, haloing, aliasing, as well as UV sharpening and noise removal to eliminate chroma bleed and reduce rainbowing were applied. A combination of very-weak luma denoising was also employed to eliminate mosquito noise to the extent possible without harming detail. See comparison screenshots.

Significant subtitle QC was applied by me including retiming to eliminate scene-bleeds, signs/songs typesetting, split and combining certain lines to improve flow, correcting typos and overly zealous localization,
adding several missing lines and TL notes, preservation of honorifics, etc. among other fixes. Original unmodified DVD subs provided for those that prefer them. DVD extra also included.

Admittedly this is far from a ground breaking series, but you could definitely watch worse things to kill 90 minutes.
Also, although I recommend the default QC’d subs, the early 00s CPM translation does contain certain gems such as this:

Thanks for your hard work! Love all the choice of subs especially the honorifics.

Appreciate rare works like this!
