This release uses [re-timed and edited nonA subs](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1047104) muxed into the [1080p RAWs] that originally came from [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1431948). In addition, Bure karaoke added from [BTN’s release](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/224510). Beyond that, I transcribed the text openings from [a.f.k.]'s release for episodes 1-3, 12. I also added some more translations to backboards in episode 3. Dialogue timing is still iffy in some parts, I fixed it where I found it wrong, but I focused heavily on sign timing and positioning, as well as making some style changes. I also attached the fonts, which the other releases did not do. Overall it's in better shape than it was before, but not perfect. I didn't do the karaoke for OP2. A lot of the work here is borrowed across a decade of fansubbers trying to get this series right, and I have added some to the pot. I added my own tag since the number of releases for this season is confusing. If you think you can contribute some more signs or timing fixes, by all means please do.
I may do Zoku later... not sure for now. I'm a one-man shop that was just upset that 15 years have past since the show aired and I'm still watching shitty 400p AVI files because [a.f.k.]'s release is still most comprehensive subbing of the series.
@herkz I did check out the new official subs. I appreciate their effort but they didn't sub the text openings and they are missing a lot of signs that fansubbers have done. Not to mention the PGS white subs over signs is just uninspired. Edit: they also used romaji translations like "Momoiro Gabriel" instead of "Pink Gabriel". Yeah, we get what it means but I don't particularly like it after being so used to [a.f.k.]'s subs
If someone could take on the grand task of scanning all 300 pages of the liner notes, i assume that has all the missing signs from the official subs but in notes format. I believe essentially every single reference and piece of japanese text is explained in there but not necessarily on screen. Only the episode 1 notes are public and free, and they're pretty high quality. http://rightstuf-vanilla.production.na1.netsuitestaging.com/images/blog/zetsubou_sensei_ep1_liner_notes.pdf
@Marche I would keep those tucked away. There are still a lot of signs that [a.f.k] alone translated (e.g. post-credit scene of episode 3, the entire lawsuit is translated). Otherwise skim around both releases and determine what is worth keeping.
@serebii42 where to download a.f.k. 's release? It's not on nyaa nor on animetosho and when i tried to connect to irc.enterthegame.com to find their IRC channel my client tries to connect and after a few minutes is says " Connection failed"
@toktok [a.f.k] is long dead and gone, don't even bother trying to find them (I tried years ago to see if I could get their scripts for SZS). There is a bot on #NIBL (Rizon) called Chinese-Cartoons that has them, but the bot seems to be down right now. Ask on NIBL about the bot and maybe they know something.
