Luckily I was planning on syncing these subs to BetterThanTTFC from the start. I do wish we didn't have to settle for *less bad* for these though... BTW, I'd upload the retimed script, but I trimmed the video beforehand, so it doesn't match the source video's timing anymore.

I downloaded both this morning for comparison and quite frankly, the improvement is marginal at best (it looked worse to me in some areas if anything). BTTTFC's RAW also included the beginning eyecatch which messes with the episode timing in terms of consistency from the rest of my releases. Until TTFC RAWs recover in quality, or a different (full) set of RAWs are made available to replace the episodes with gimped visual quality, I am going to stick with TTFC RAWs (Hikounin/MagicStar). Episodes will be remuxed with HQ RAWs for the eventual batch/v2s

Ok, but, just saying: The beginning eyecatch can be easily removed with MeGUI or any other tool... Even MKVToolnix... Anyway, both aren't perfect, so just try to make the v2 as good as possible using AMZN or BD in the future.

You can cut and trim videos without loosing quality using FFmpeg.

Yeah, true, you can make the timing the same by removing the beginning eye-catch as well as the couple of black parts between the opening and the A part and between the A part and B part (TTFC just skips straight to the next scene). However, the average fansubber knows nothing about editing, encoding, or modifying videos in any way these days. Back in the day, they had to know that stuff (since they typically had to do TV rips themselves), but these days there are basically four types of people on the scene: people subbing existing videos, people ripping streaming videos, people ripping and encoding the blu-rays, and people doing remakes. And they don't really cross over. The dinosaurs like me who actually remember the golden age of fansubbing (hey, remember VHS fansubs? No?) are either aged out (usually via getting real jobs) or forgotten. P.S. TV-Nihon still does things the classic way. To a fault. With an extreme refusal to learn new things. P.P.S. The average person doing encodes these days knows nothing about encoding either. They're just copying what they see everyone else doing.

TV-Nihon now uses DeLogo, which they didn't before. Also, their TV encodes has proper deinterlacing (which [IWriteRandomNamesOnKingohgerReleases] doesn't knows how to do). What new thing they should learn? I honestly like they decision to release in hardsub so they can have good VFX via VSFilterMod, which allows using textures. For the ones who likes softsub-with-almost-no-VFX releases, there are other fansubs like IzuSubs here. There's a thing for everyone.
