I tried to use AV1 for the "good" encode this time, but it didn't work.
Nice, good to hear that the ITA BD isn't a duplicate of the JPN BD (I'm assuming the USA release is even though I don't think its as crammed of bonus content). I saw this in theaters and it looked so amazing, I was anticipating checking it out again and considering buying the Blu-ray. I probably would have if CDJapan had listed it with English subtitles to begin with. I wouldn't have thought they'd compress it so badly for BD. But then again, for some reason it seems to be a common practice to produce bad Blu-rays. At least they included the Atmos track I guess.
The only fansubber working on actual good shows and movies. Good shit Dr. Bob.
Thanks for the AVC encode and the Source.
the only reason the JP BD is so bad is because they basically included duplicate audio tracks that are (almost) entirely useless but take up a lot of space, so the video bitrate had to be reduced to compensate. i'm not aware of it being bad for some other, additional reason.
