Frogification Phenomenon A relatively new online slang phrase in the Japanese-sphere; it usually describes the event where rabid fans heel-turn on an idol/star/celebrity/etc. over relatively petty or benign things that they've been caught doing. It's also sometimes used to describe when your opinion of someone randomly drops because they've coincedentally done some minor thing that just so happens to be something that ticks you off. The phrase has it's origins in Grimm's classic Frog Prince fairytale (the one where a princess has to overcome her distaste of an ugly frog and kiss it, which turns it back into the handsome prince who was originally cursed into that form). However, unlike the underlying message of the original tale (where the princess goes from hate to love), the slang phrase has essentially taken on a reversal of meaning (love to hate).
